  • Welcome to my journal!

                                                        Who am I.

I am a wife.  I am a mother to 3 amazing human beings.  I am a believer in God, and worshipper of Christ.  I am 37 years old.  I am an artist.  I am a widow.  I am a lover of warmth.   I am insecure.  I am short.   I am hopeful.  I am driven.  I am passionate.  I am not a genius.  I am blessed.  I am not amazing.  I am ordinary.

I am Amanda K, and it's not about ME.

" My desire is to truly form a lasting relationship with my clients, to create an unforgettable experience, and document their life.  Because their life is important. "

                                                  Your LIFE ~ My VISION

9 years home….

July 28th will be branded into my soul for the rest of my earthly life.  The day the rug got pulled from underneath me.  I felt like someone had taken me by the feet, swung me around, slammed me on the ground, then expected me to get up and live.

How could THIS be Gods “perfect plan” for my life?  For my kids life?  How was  I supposed to live without the love of my life.  My high school sweetheart. How was I supposed to be a mother when I was only half of a person.

It was through this valley of death that I was literally crawling through when God truly revealed His love and tender mercies to me. I wasn’t crawling, I was being carried. I was given the peace the surpassed my understanding.   It’s the faith that Gods word is true and that is what gives me HOPE.

Here I am 9 years later looking back and I can still feel the sting.  I am thankful for that as it awakens me to the memories of feeling such despair and sorrow, and how God has restored my smile.

I have SO much to be thankful for today. Yes, THIS day July 28th.  It was through the pain that I truly discovered who I am, and who God had made me to be.  I have been blessed beyond measure.  Most of all, I am thankful for my children. They are a reflection of their Dad.  He would be SO very proud of them. He loved them with every part of his being.

This photograph is one of my favorites. This was taken at Crater Lake Park about 5 months before he passed away.  They were just babies.:) I have BOXES of prints of Daniel with his children…I will be sharing some throughout this next year.

“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.

He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see what he had done and be astounded.

They will put their trust in the Lord.”

Psalm 40: 1-3

Mary Oliphant - Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings about your loss. Your words are very comforting and uplifting. Your creativity is expressed not only through the camera’s eye – but also through the written word. The Lord has blessed you with much talent Amanda. Continue to use it to inspire us all. You certainly have been pounded by the potter’s hand – He is creating something beautiful in you — a vessel that He is using to pour out His love to the rest of us. Be blessed and at peace sweetheart!! ♥

Kris - Memories of that day in July come rushing back. It seems like only yesterday that Daniel got to start his new heavanly life and we began our earthborn sorrow. So many things have changed but the love we feel for our Daniel will always be the same. He is so proud of the life you have made for your children the gifts that you have begun exploring. Yes, the best is yet to be. Soon we will all do the reunion dance of joy and then no more sad remembrabnce days, only days of jubilee.

A two year old is so many things… / Medford Oregon Childrens Lifestyle Portraiture

….A tiny discoverer of butterfly wings.
A hugger of teddies, a sweet sleepy head.
And someone to dream for in bright years ahead.
A special new person who right from the start,
has a place in the family and a coarse in your heart.
And just when you think you’ve learned all the things,
that your dear son is,and the joy that he brings,
a hug or a grin comes with such a sweet surprise,
that love finds you smiling with tears in your eyes.

Mr. Parker belongs to my fabulous friend and assistant Nicole, and I have had the honor of capturing him since he was weeks old!  My goodness how the time flies!!! He is the sweetest boy ever.  He did not want to be too far from mommy’s side, therefore, we had to be tricky!!  LOL We had visions of kites when we discussed the session, and we were thrilled that we had some fabulous wind!!  It took some major coercing, but he finally relented to the fun of flying the kite all by “his self”.:)

Thank you Nicole for allowing me to privilege of capturing your boy!!

XOXO

It’s all about Taylor! / Pt. 1 Field / Southern Oregon High School Senior Photographer

The GORGEOUS miss Taylor is my first class of 2011 senior!!  And what a way to start the 2011 season!!

This is going to be a VERY emotional year for me.  As most of you know, my son is also class of 2011, and I am overwhelmed with joy and pride as I have the privilege of capturing many of the kids that my son grew up with.

I first met miss Taylor’s mom and dad in a Labor and Delivery class when we were both pregnant with Taylor and Tim!!  HA!! They were “womb” mates!!  (my son is going to kill me for putting this on the blog)  HA HA!  Anyway, I have had the pleasure of watching Taylor grow into a beautiful young woman.  She is an absolute delight.

Lashell, (her mama) and I teared up when we started shooting the first half of Taylors session.  Sigh…it’s going to be a rough year.:)

When we had her consultation to discuss a concept for her session, we wanted to have the best of both worlds!  Taylor had two sessions!  We shot the first session in one of my favorite locations here in Medford.  We wanted organic, soft and feminine.  The weather was FUHreezing!!  We couldn’t believe it was June and in the low 50’s.  The wind was crazy, and my shooting finger went numb. LOL

We were able to capture some beautiful shots of Taylor. It wasn’t difficult.  I’m pretty sure whatever the elements, she would photograph beautifully.:)

I posted a “teaser” today of session 1, with more to come.  Session 2 was shot downtown Portland , OR.  I can’t WAIT to share those!!  AMAZING!!

Have a safe and happy 4th everyone!!  I will be back in the office on July the 6th!!

AK

We had some tunes playing, and she busted out some moves!! LOL She's 'happy snappin" !

Anyone remember the first shot I did of her similar to this about 3 years ago??:)
